Practical Support Assistant
To support the student as a practical assistant. For example, to open doors, lift and carry equipment under the student's instruction.
Library Support Assistant
To search the library catalogs and electronic resources for resources needed by the student. To locate, and carry academic library materials. To scan and photocopy library resources.
To read academic texts aloud to the student or to record whilst reading. To read the student's work back to them
To copy out documents, from recordings or whilst attending lectures
Proof Reader/Text Checker
To locate errors in the student's written work including punctuation, grammar, and spelling.
Examination Support Worker
To support the student during exams, by reading text aloud to the student and writing down, verbatim, the student's answers to exam questions.
To produce a manual, legible and accurate set of notes from the student's lectures, in the students preferred style.
Specialist Mentor – Mental Health and AS
To help the student to cope with anxiety and stress, concentration difficulties, time management, and creating a suitable work-life balance. Mentors are not counselors; their role is to promote independent learning and empowering the student to manage their work load.
Specialist One-to-One Study Skills Support – SpLD and AS
To support students on a one-to-one basis, to develop academic competencies. To promote independent learning and empowering the student to manage their work load. Study skills support is not subject specific.
